20th Anniversary Event Information
Baltimore, Inc. (WEB) will celebrate 20 years of helping women start successful businesses with two events. On October 22 WEB will host the Women Mean Business Conference, a full-day event examining the economic impact of women and women business owners. This will be followed on October 24 by the TASTE of Success Celebration, celebrating 20 years and 2000+ businesses. WOMEN MEAN BU$INE$$ CONFERENCE As WEB CEO Joanne Saltzberg points out, “Women-owned businesses are one of the fast growing segments of the US economy and women make 80% of the purchasing decisions in US households. By 2010, women will control $13 trillion of the nation’s private wealth.* Put those facts together and it’s clear that Women Mean Business in every possible sense. At this conference, we’ll explore how women entrepreneurs specifically and business owners generally can leverage women’s growing economic clout to re-shape the 21st century economy to their benefit – from public policy decisions to private investment to practical business tools." The morning session will feature public policy makers, successful entrepreneurs, and economists discussing how public policy and the current economy impact the daily lives of entrepreneurs. Experts will explore public and private options for fueling the entrepreneurial engine. Afternoon sessions will focus on women’s leadership and success strategies for small businesses. The conference is open to the public and WEB expects to attract more than 200 entrepreneurs, financial organizations, policy makers, research and economic development professionals. Corporate sponsors include: the T. Rowe Price Foundation, PNC Bank, Lochte & Herkalo, P.A., McCormick & Co., Inc., and the RCM&D Foundation. Media sponsors include Comcast Cable Communications and The Business Monthly/Maryland Entrepreneur Quarterly. The TASTE of Success Celebration On October 24, WEB will return to the Pier V Hotel for an evening anniversary celebration for its graduates, friends, and supporters.
