Vision
New businesses started by our clients are flourishing, creating jobs, revitalizing neighborhoods, and significantly contributing to the local economy.
Mission
WEB builds strong, women-owned businesses that lift up communities and families.
In 1988, Baltimore City’s newly-formed Commission for Women examined how to improve the lives of women, particularly those disproportionately affected by poverty and unemployment. They found large numbers of women possessing the will and determination to improve their lives through business ownership, but lacking access to affordable business skills training and coaching. At the same time, national and global studies emerged showing microenterprise development to be one of the single most effective strategies for lifting people into better economic conditions.Out of the Commission’s inquiry arose a dedicated group of women professionals and community development specialists who formed Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore in 1989.
Lift and Last
WEB is committed to lifting up individuals, families and their communities and permanently strengthening their economic positions through women’s business ownership.
We are providing solutions every day that energize aspiring entrepreneurs to start up businesses and revitalize small businesses that need strategies to sustain and grow in these challenging times. This year, WEB has a special programmatic focus to create new jobs and increase business’ revenues through our “Wake Up Your Business with WEB” Initiative.
